Gouvernement Provisoire de la République Algérienne (GPRA)
The Gouvernement Provisoire de la République Algérienne (GPRA) was the temporary government established by Algerian independence leaders during the Algerian War of 1954–1962. It functioned as the political authority representing the Algerian struggle for independence from France, coordinating resistance efforts and seeking international support. The GPRA operated mainly from exile in Tunisia and Morocco while the fight for independence continued on the ground in Algeria. Its formation symbolized a unified political front and was instrumental in gaining international recognition for Algerian independence, which was achieved in 1962.
