Gorilla (genus)

Gorillas are large, intelligent primates belonging to the genus Gorilla. They are the strongest of the living primates and are native to the forests of central Africa. Gorillas are social animals that live in groups called troops, led by a dominant male known as a silverback. They primarily eat leaves, shoots, and fruits, and spend much of their time foraging. There are two species: the eastern and western gorillas, each with subspecies. Gorillas are critically endangered due to habitat loss, poaching, and disease, highlighting the importance of conservation efforts to protect their populations.
