Goodman (philosopher)
Nelson Goodman was an influential American philosopher known for his work in philosophy of language, philosophy of mathematics, and aesthetics. He is best known for his "new riddle of induction," which challenges how we justify generalizations based on past experiences, highlighting the problem of distinguishing between valid predictive statements and those that seem valid but aren't. He introduced the terms "grue" and "bleen" to illustrate these concepts. Goodman also explored ideas about the nature of art and representation in his book "Languages of Art," emphasizing how representations convey meaning and how we interpret them.
