Golden League
The Golden League was an international athletics series held annually from 1998 to 2009, featuring top athletes competing in track and field events across Europe. Athletes earned prize money by winning their events at designated meets. Starting in 2005, the series adopted a jackpot system where athletes who won their event at all Golden League meets could share a substantial prize pool, encouraging consistent performance. The league aimed to enhance the excitement and prestige of track and field competitions, culminating in a grand final where the overall winners were crowned. It was replaced by the IAAF Diamond League in 2010, which continues similar objectives on a global scale.
