God Particle

The "God Particle," officially known as the Higgs boson, is a fundamental particle discovered in 2012 that helps explain why other particles have mass. In the universe, particles interact with a field called the Higgs field; this interaction gives them weight. The Higgs boson is an excitation or ripple in this field, much like a wave in water. Its discovery confirmed a crucial part of the Standard Model of physics, helping us understand how particles acquire mass and why the universe has structure.
