Glycated Hemoglobin (HbA1c)
Glycated Hemoglobin, or HbA1c, is a blood test that measures the average level of blood sugar (glucose) over the past two to three months. When blood sugar is high, more sugar attaches to hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. The HbA1c result reflects this percentage, helping doctors assess how well blood sugar levels are being managed in people with diabetes or at risk of developing it. A higher HbA1c indicates poorer blood sugar control, while a lower percentage suggests better management.
