Girls in the Juvenile Justice System
Girls in the juvenile justice system are often affected by unique social, emotional, and environmental factors. Many face issues such as trauma, abuse, and mental health problems, which can contribute to their offending behavior. Unlike boys, girls may be more likely to commit non-violent offenses, often linked to relationships or survival. The system, however, can be ill-equipped to address their specific needs, leading to higher rates of recidivism. Effective interventions focus on rehabilitation, mental health support, and addressing the underlying issues to help girls transition back into society more successfully.
