GIRFEC (Getting It Right For Every Child)

Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) is a Scottish policy framework designed to ensure that all children and young people receive consistent and effective support to thrive. It emphasizes collaboration among services, such as education, health, and social work, to meet individual needs. Central to GIRFEC is the idea of "Wellbeing" and using the SHANARRI indicators—Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Respected, Responsible, and Included—to assess and promote children's development. By fostering a joined-up approach, GIRFEC aims to enhance outcomes for children and ensure that they are supported holistically throughout their lives.
