
Giovanni Battista Guarini
Giovanni Battista Guarini (1538–1612) was an Italian poet, playwright, and diplomat during the Renaissance. He is best known for his pastoral tragicomedy "Il pastor fido" ("The Faithful Shepherd"), which explores themes of love, duty, and human nature within an idyllic countryside setting. Guarini's work combined classical influences with innovative poetic form, impacting European literature.
