Giacomo Acerbo

Giacomo Acerbo was an Italian politician and lawyer who played a significant role in Mussolini's Fascist regime. He is best known for drafting the Acerbo Law in 1923, which fundamentally changed Italy's electoral system. The law allowed the political party with the most votes to automatically gain two-thirds of parliamentary seats, enabling Mussolini and his Fascists to establish a dictatorship. Acerbo's legal work helped consolidate fascist power, making Italy a one-party state. His actions are viewed as pivotal in the rise of Fascism in Italy during the early 20th century.
