GI tract

The gastrointestinal (GI) tract is a long, continuous tube in your body that runs from your mouth to your anus. Its main role is to digest food, absorb nutrients, and eliminate waste. When you eat, food travels through the esophagus to your stomach, where it’s broken down. From there, it moves into the small intestine, where nutrients are absorbed into your bloodstream. The remaining waste then moves into the large intestine, where water is reabsorbed and stool forms, before exiting through the anus. The GI tract works automatically to keep your body nourished and waste-free.
