German Navy (Kriegsmarine)

The German Navy, known as the Kriegsmarine during Nazi Germany (1935-1945), was the naval warfare branch responsible for maritime defense, fleet operations, and offensive campaigns. It operated submarines (U-boats), surface ships, and aircraft, playing a key role in World War II's Battle of the Atlantic. The Kriegsmarine aimed to disrupt Allied supply routes and project German military power at sea. After WWII, it was disbanded, and Germany's navy was later reestablished as the Bundesmarine within NATO, focusing on defense, maritime security, and international cooperation.
