George Monck

George Monck was a 17th-century English soldier and politician who played a crucial role during a turbulent period in England's history. Originally a Royalist, he later supported the Parliament during the English Civil War. After the war, he helped restore stability following Parliament’s rule and was instrumental in the transition from the Commonwealth back to a monarchy. In 1660, Monck marched his troops to London, encouraging King Charles II to reclaim the throne, leading to the restoration of the monarchy. His leadership helped reunite the country and shape the future of the English government.
