George McClellan
George McClellan was a Union general during the American Civil War, known for his leadership and cautious strategies. Born in 1826, he distinguished himself in the Mexican-American War before being appointed commander of the Army of the Potomac. Despite early victories, such as the Battle of Antietam, his hesitance to aggressively pursue Confederate forces led to criticism. McClellan ran for president in 1864 but was defeated by Abraham Lincoln. His time in command highlighted the challenges of military leadership and the balance between caution and aggression in warfare. He later served as governor of New Jersey.
