Gene Pool
A gene pool refers to the complete set of genetic information (genes) within a population of a particular species. It includes all the different genes and their variations (alleles) that exist among individuals. The gene pool influences the traits and characteristics seen in that population, such as size, color, or resistance to disease. Changes in the gene pool occur through processes like mutation, natural selection, and migration, which can impact the population’s evolution over time. Essentially, it’s the collective genetic diversity that helps a population adapt, survive, and evolve in its environment.
