Gause's principle

Gause's principle, also known as the competitive exclusion principle, states that two species competing for the exact same limited resources cannot coexist indefinitely. If one species is more efficient at using resources or reproducing, it will eventually outcompete and displace the other. This principle highlights that differences in resource use or behavior are necessary for similar species to live closely together without directly competing to the point of exclusion. Essentially, species must differentiate their niches or resources to survive alongside each other in an ecosystem.
