Gallic language
Gallic language was an ancient Celtic language spoken by the Gauls in what is now France and nearby regions before Latin became dominant. It belongs to the Celtic language family, related to Welsh and Breton. Gallic was used primarily in oral communication, with limited written records, mostly inscriptions and coins. Although it gradually disappeared after Roman conquest and Latin spread, some place names and words survive today. Understanding Gallic helps researchers trace the cultural and linguistic history of early Europe before Roman influence transformed the region’s languages.
