Galileo Mission

The Galileo Mission was a NASA space program launched in 1989 to study Jupiter, its moons, and its magnetosphere. It sent a spacecraft that orbited Jupiter from 1995 to 2003, providing groundbreaking data about the planet's atmosphere, its complex rings, and its largest moons, including Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. Galileo significantly enhanced our understanding of the solar system's largest planet and contributed to the discovery of potential subsurface oceans on its moons, raising questions about the possibility of extraterrestrial life. The mission concluded with a deliberate crash into Jupiter to prevent contamination of its moons.
