Galantamine

Galantamine is a medication primarily used to help manage symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. It works by increasing the levels of a chemical in the brain called acetylcholine, which is important for memory and thinking. By inhibiting an enzyme that breaks down this chemical, galantamine helps improve communication between nerve cells. This can lead to better memory, cognition, and daily functioning for some people with Alzheimer’s. It is usually taken as a pill and requires a doctor’s prescription. While it doesn’t cure Alzheimer’s, it can help slow symptom progression and improve quality of life.
