GABA analogs

GABA analogs are compounds designed to mimic or interact with gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), the brain’s main calming neurotransmitter. By resembling or influencing GABA’s activity, these drugs can help regulate nerve signals, often reducing anxiety, preventing seizures, or promoting relaxation. They can either directly activate GABA receptors or modulate their function, enhancing GABA’s natural calming effects on the nervous system. GABA analogs are used in conditions like epilepsy, anxiety disorders, and sometimes for muscle relaxation, functioning to stabilize nerve activity and promote mental and physical calmness.
