FXS (Fragile X Syndrome)

Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) is a genetic disorder caused by a change in a specific gene on the X chromosome, leading to a deficiency of a protein needed for normal brain development. This results in intellectual disabilities, learning challenges, and often behavioral and social difficulties. Individuals with FXS may also experience features like anxiety, hyperactivity, or delays in speech and motor skills. It is the most common inherited cause of intellectual disability and autism-like symptoms. While there is no cure, early intervention, educational support, and therapies can greatly improve quality of life.
