Fundal massage
Fundal massage is a procedure performed after childbirth to help the uterus contract and reduce bleeding. The healthcare provider gently presses on the top part of the uterus (fundus) through the abdomen to stimulate contractions. This helps the uterus tighten, which decreases blood flow from the site where the placenta was attached. Proper massage can prevent postpartum hemorrhage—a serious condition from excessive bleeding. It’s a common and safe practice used by medical professionals to promote stability and recovery after delivery.
