Frontal Sinus

The frontal sinus is one of the four paired air-filled spaces located within the bones of the skull, specifically behind the forehead. These sinuses help lighten the skull, produce mucus to keep the nasal passages moist, and contribute to voice resonance. The frontal sinuses drain mucus into the nose, and their size and shape can vary from person to person. They are lined with a mucous membrane and are part of the respiratory system, playing a role in air filtration and immune defense. When inflamed or infected, this area can cause sinus headaches and discomfort.
