Front de libération du Québec (FLQ)
The Front de libération du Québec (FLQ) was a militant group in Quebec, active during the 1960s and early 1970s, that sought independence for Quebec from Canada. They used tactics such as bombings, kidnappings, and sabotage to push for sovereignty and promote their nationalist cause. The FLQ’s actions led to fears of violence and prompted the Canadian government to invoke the War Measures Act in 1970, which resulted in mass arrests. The group disbanded in the late 1970s, but their activities played a significant role in shaping Quebec’s political landscape and the movement for independence.
