Friulian Language

Friulian is a Romance language spoken primarily in the Friuli region of northeastern Italy. It is part of the Rhaeto-Romance group, which also includes Ladin and Romansh. Friulian has its roots in Latin and features a distinctive vocabulary and grammar. The language enjoys a degree of official recognition in Italy and is used in local education and media. Efforts are underway to preserve and promote Friulian culture and language amidst the dominant Italian influence. While it shares similarities with Italian, it remains a unique linguistic identity for the Friulian people.
