French Indian War
The French and Indian War (1754–1763) was a conflict between Britain and France, with their respective Native American allies, over control of North American territory. The war stemmed from competing claims to land and trade routes, particularly in the Ohio River Valley. Britain aimed to expand its colonies, while France sought to maintain its empire in North America. The conflict ended with Britain gaining significant territory through the Treaty of Paris in 1763, weakening France’s presence in North America and setting the stage for future tensions that led to the American Revolution.
