FRELIMO
FRELIMO, or the Front for the Liberation of Mozambique, is a political party in Mozambique founded in 1962. Originally an anti-colonial movement, it led the fight for independence from Portuguese rule, achieving it in 1975. After independence, FRELIMO became the ruling party and has shaped Mozambique's political landscape since then. It is known for its socialist ideologies and has faced challenges, including a civil war that lasted from the late 1970s to the 1992 peace agreement. Today, FRELIMO remains influential, emphasizing national development, economic growth, and social progress in its governance.
