Frederick Banting was a Canadian doctor and scientist best known for co-discovering insulin in 1921, a groundbreaking treatment for diabetes. Prior to this discovery, diabetes was often fatal due to high blood sugar levels. Banting, along with his colleague Charles Best, developed a method to extract insulin from the pancreas of animals, revolutionizing diabetes care and saving countless lives. Their work earned Banting the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1923. Banting is celebrated not only for his contributions to medicine but also for his dedication to humane treatment and patient care.
