Fred DeLuca (Subway)
Fred DeLuca was an American entrepreneur best known as the co-founder of Subway, the popular sandwich restaurant chain. He started the business in 1965 at the age of 17, initially as a way to fund his college education. The first store was called "Pete's Super Submarines," named after a friend, but it was later renamed Subway. Under DeLuca's leadership, Subway grew into one of the largest fast-food franchises globally, known for its customizable sandwiches and healthier options. DeLuca's vision and commitment to quality helped make Subway a recognizable brand in the fast-food industry until his passing in 2015.
