Franco-Turkish War
The Franco-Turkish War (1919–1922) was fought between France and Turkey during the early 20th century, mainly over control of Ottoman territories in the Middle East after World War I. France aimed to expand its influence in the region, while Turkish nationalists sought independence from foreign mandates. The conflict included battles in regions like Cilicia and Syria. The war ended with the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923, which recognized the sovereignty of the Republic of Turkey and ended French control in the area. It was a key part of Turkey’s struggle to establish itself as a modern nation-state.
