Francis Hopkinson

Francis Hopkinson (1737-1791) was an American Founding Father known for his role in early American politics and culture. He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, representing New Jersey. In addition to his political contributions, Hopkinson was a talented musician, composer, and writer. He is credited with one of the first American operas and created the first known musical score for the American flag. Hopkinson's diverse talents and efforts in promoting independence and national identity make him an important figure in American history.
