François Guizot
François Guizot was a 19th-century French historian, politician, and reformer. He played a key role in shaping France's political landscape during the July Monarchy (1830-1848) as Prime Minister. Guizot promoted constitutional monarchy, individual freedoms, and economic development through modest reforms. He believed stability was achieved through admitting educated citizens into political life. His policies favored the wealthy and educated, which caused dissatisfaction among the working class, contributing to the unrest that led to his resignation and the 1848 revolution. Renowned as a historian, he also authored important works on French history and politics.
