Foie Gras
Foie gras is a luxury food product made from the liver of a duck or goose that has been specially fed to enlarge its liver significantly beyond its normal size. This process, called "gavage," involves force-feeding the birds a high-starch diet through a tube inserted into their esophagus. The resulting abnormally enlarged liver is prized for its rich, buttery flavor and smooth texture. While considered a delicacy in many cuisines, foie gras is controversial due to concerns over animal welfare and ethical practices associated with its production.
