FLQ

The FLQ, or Front de libération du Québec, is a Canadian political group that emerged in the 1960s advocating for Quebec's independence from Canada. They believed Quebec should be a separate nation and used tactics such as protests and violent acts, including bombings, to draw attention to their cause. Their actions heightened tensions between Quebec and the rest of Canada, especially during the October Crisis of 1970, when they kidnapped a government official. The FLQ’s activities eventually led to government intervention and the implementation of emergency powers to maintain order.
