Flow Duration Curve

A Flow Duration Curve (FDC) is a graph that illustrates how river flow rates vary over time. It shows the percentage of time that a specific flow rate is equaled or exceeded. Essentially, it helps us understand the reliability and variability of water flow in a river or stream. For example, if a curve indicates that a certain flow rate is met 80% of the time, it means that during most of the year, the water flow is at least that level. This information is crucial for water resource management, hydropower generation, and environmental conservation.
