Flight or Fight Response
The fight-or-flight response is the body's automatic reaction to perceived danger or threat. When faced with a stressful situation, the brain signals the release of stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones prepare the body to either confront the threat ("fight") or escape from it ("flight"). This response increases heart rate, blood flow, and alertness, while reducing non-essential functions. It’s an evolutionary mechanism designed to help us react quickly and effectively in emergencies, enhancing survival chances. Once the threat passes, the body gradually returns to a normal state.
