Five Freedoms
The Five Freedoms are principles that ensure animals are treated ethically and compassionately. They include: freedom from hunger and thirst by providing proper diet; freedom from discomfort through suitable shelter; freedom from pain, injury, or disease via veterinary care; freedom to express normal behavior by allowing appropriate environments; and freedom from fear and distress by ensuring safe, non-threatening conditions. These freedoms promote animals' well-being and dignity, guiding humane treatment whether they are pets, farm animals, or wildlife.
