Five Focusing Steps

The Five Focusing Steps are a problem-solving process based on the Theory of Constraints, aimed at improving an organization's performance. 1. **Identify the Constraint**: Find the limiting factor affecting performance. 2. **Exploit the Constraint**: Make the best use of the constraint’s capacity without additional investment. 3. **Subordinate Everything Else**: Align all other processes to support the constraint. 4. **Elevate the Constraint**: Take steps to increase the constraint's capacity, if necessary. 5. **Repeat the Process**: Once resolved, go back to step one and identify the next constraint to continually improve efficiency.
