First Triumvirate
The First Triumvirate was an informal political alliance in ancient Rome between three powerful figures—Julius Caesar, Pompey, and Crassus—formed around 60 BCE. They combined their influence and resources to dominate Roman politics and support their personal ambitions, effectively bypassing traditional republican institutions. Though not an official government body, their alliance allowed them to control key positions, sway decisions, and maintain power collectively. This alliance eventually led to conflicts that contributed to the decline of the Roman Republic and the rise of Julius Caesar as a dictator.
