Finnish Forest Research Institute (Metla)
The Finnish Forest Research Institute, known as Metla, was a research organization focused on studying and managing Finland's forests. It conducted scientific research on various aspects of forestry, including forest ecology, conservation, and sustainable management practices. Metla aimed to support the Finnish forest sector and promote biodiversity, aiming for a balance between economic use and environmental protection. In 2014, Metla merged into the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke), which continues its legacy by integrating forest research with broader studies in agriculture, fisheries, and rural development to enhance the sustainable use of natural resources.
