Fideism

Fideism is the philosophical view that faith is the primary or only basis for religious belief, and that reason or evidence alone cannot fully prove religious truths. Fideists believe that understanding and accepting religious ideas often require trusting in divine revelation or divine authority rather than relying solely on logical arguments or empirical evidence. They see faith as essential to truly knowing or relating to the divine, emphasizing, sometimes, that reason alone is insufficient for spiritual understanding. This approach highlights the importance of personal trust, conviction, and religious experience in religious life.
