Fertility Awareness-Based Methods

Fertility Awareness-Based Methods (FABMs) are natural approaches to family planning that involve tracking your menstrual cycle to identify fertile days when pregnancy is most likely. Women monitor signs like body temperature, cervical mucus, and menstrual cycles to determine when they are ovulating. By understanding these patterns, they can choose to prevent or achieve pregnancy without using hormonal or barrier methods. While effective when practiced correctly, FABMs require consistent daily tracking and awareness of normal cycle variations. They also do not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
