Ferdinand I of Naples

Ferdinand I of Naples (also Ferdinand I of the Two Sicilies) was a 19th-century monarch who ruled over the Kingdom of Naples and later the unified Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, which combined Naples and Sicily. His reign, from 1825 to 1859, was marked by efforts to modernize the kingdom and restore stability after revolutionary uprisings. He faced significant challenges, including political unrest and wars for Italian unification. Known for his conservative views, Ferdinand struggled to balance reform with maintaining his authority, ultimately dying before seeing the full unification of Italy, which occurred shortly afterward.
