Federation of Yugoslav Republics

The Federation of Yugoslav Republics, often simply called Yugoslavia, was a country in Southeast Europe that existed from 1945 until the early 1990s. It was made up of six republics: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia, along with the province of Kosovo. Yugoslavia was initially a socialist federation and aimed to unite various ethnic groups under a single state. However, rising nationalism and ethnic tensions led to its breakup in the 1990s, resulting in several wars and the independent formation of each republic. Today, these republics are separate countries.
