Federal Works Agency

The Federal Works Agency was a U.S. government agency created in 1939 during the New Deal. Its purpose was to coordinate and oversee various public works programs aimed at employing people and improving infrastructure during the Great Depression. It included initiatives like the Works Progress Administration (WPA), which funded construction projects and provided jobs. The agency helped build roads, bridges, schools, and parks, contributing to economic recovery. It was dissolved in 1943, as the focus shifted away from wartime economic challenges and towards post-war recovery.
