Federal Council of Switzerland
The Swiss Federal Council is the executive branch of Switzerland’s government, composed of seven members who collectively lead the country. These councilors are elected by the Swiss Parliament for four-year terms and represent different political parties. The Council functions as a collegial body, making decisions collectively rather than individually, ensuring a balance of power. Each year, one member serves as the President, mainly for ceremonial purposes. The Council oversees federal administration, implements laws, and manages relations with other countries, playing a key role in Switzerland’s political stability and neutrality.
