FATA (Federally Administrated Tribal Areas)

The Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) was a semi-autonomous region in northwestern Pakistan, composed of tribal districts along the Afghan border. Historically, FATA operated under a unique legal and administrative framework, with local tribes exercising significant self-governance based on customary laws rather than formal Pakistani law. The area was often considered volatile due to its strategic location and influence from militant groups. In 2018, FATA was merged into the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, integrating it into Pakistan’s regular administrative system to promote development, stability, and better governance.
