Farmers' Alliance

The Farmers' Alliance was a late 19th-century movement in the United States aimed at supporting farmers' economic interests. It united farmers to promote better prices for their crops, fairer credit terms, and lower transportation costs. By pooling resources and advocating for political and economic reforms, it aimed to counter the power of large railroad companies, banks, and grain elevator operators that often exploited farmers. The alliance also promoted education and social activities to improve rural communities. Although it eventually declined, it laid the groundwork for later movements like the Progressive Era reforms and the Populist Party.
