FALN (Fuerzas Armadas de Liberación Nacional Puertorriqueña)
The Fuerzas Armadas de Liberación Nacional Puertorriqueña (FALN) was a militant organization active mainly in the 1970s and 1980s that fought for Puerto Rico’s independence from the United States. They engaged in armed actions, such as bombings, intending to draw attention to Puerto Rican self-determination. While they claimed their actions were to promote independence, their tactics caused widespread concern and controversy. Many members were later arrested, and some received prison sentences. Today, FALN is considered a defunct group, and its activities remain a complex part of Puerto Rican and U.S. history regarding political activism and independence movements.
