Fair Deal

The Fair Deal was President Harry Truman’s set of proposed policies in the late 1940s aimed at improving Americans' lives. It included plans to expand fair employment practices, raise the minimum wage, extend social safety nets like Social Security, and promote affordable housing and healthcare. The goal was to create a more equitable society by ensuring economic opportunities and protections for all citizens. While some of Truman’s proposals were adopted, others faced opposition in Congress. Overall, the Fair Deal sought to build on New Deal achievements and promote social and economic fairness in post-war America.
